The fate of beach concessions in Italy remains uncertain, but Jesolo council has already reassigned some to large capital firms, paving the way for an industrial tourism model. The lack of national criteria for managing maritime public domain risks favouring big companies at the expense of small local businesses. A prime example is a kilometre-long stretch won by a Geox-linked company with an €8m investment plan, including 2,000 umbrellas.
